Common Questions I get!

Hiiii! Today I will be answering some questions I get asked a lot. If you have any questions for me you can use the chat on the side of this page to contact me! Lets get on with the post!

Q: Why did you want to ride horses?

A: One day I was on a hike with my friend and we were talking about sports and then she was telling me about her friend who was a horseback rider and how much fun her friend has and we were like, horseback riding is SOO easy. And this was during quarantine so as ice skater I couldn't go to the ice den and my mom was like, "Sierra I don't like you sitting around all day on the computer" so I was like, "Well maybe I can do horseback riding until the ice den opens up so I will have something to do". My mom loves everything about the country so she said yes. At the beginning I thought that horseback riding (for me) was just gonna be an every now and then sport. You know, just learn to ride a horse. I had no intention in wanting to compete in it. But then I got to groom the horse, I got to tack up the horse, I got to give treats to the horse, and I got to ride the horse and I loved it so much. I wanted to do it again and I just LOVED it. After my lesson my whole mindset turned and I was like, "Mom, I don't want this to be an every now and then sport. I want to do this every week and I want to compete with this". So my mom said yes and I just fell in love with all the horses there and now, for me, horseback riding isn't just a every month or so "activity". I consider this a real sport that I want to do for the rest of my life. I love horseback riding so much, and I love the horses so so much and I don't think I will ever quit or get sick of riding.

Q: Which stable do you go to and who teaches you?

A: I go to cactus rose ranch in Scottsdale and my coach is Leo Hansen.

Q: How often do you ride?

A: I ride two times a week usually early in the morning so it isn't so hot.

Q: How long are your lessons?

A: Depending on how hot it is, my lessons will range from 45 minutes-an hour and a half.

Q: What do you do during your lessons?

A: I do walk, trot, posting trot, canter and sometimes a bit of galloping. I hope to do a lot more galloping and compete in horseback riding (If I am prepared) this year.

Q: What is your favorite horse breed?

A: I love all horses. I don't care about the breed of them, but if I were to buy a horse my top selection would be either an appaloosa horse or a jet black Frisian cross. But if those options weren't available I would be happy with any horse, no matter how young or how old.

Q: How long have you been riding?

A: I have been riding for about two months. It is seriously the best thing ever and I love it so much. If I could I would ride everyday.

I hope you liked my Q&A. I think I might be setting up (I think, idk for sure) a private Instagram account for my blog so check back in a couple days and it might be there. I will probably set it up this weekend and it will probably be ready by Sunday, if not a bit later. It will be in a social bar, either on the side on on the bottom of this page. It is a private account so you will have to follow me to see the pictures. I need help on what to call it though. I am debating over The Desert Rider or Sierra Bay. Bay is my middle name, and the breed of some horses so I feel like it would be cute. I could also do Sierra the Bay but ill see. I would appreciate it if you could tell me which one you like better. Thanks guys. Stay tuned! xx The Desert Rider
